Shirk was a railroad switch and loading point on the Frisco Railroad. Located across the Arkansas River from River City Park on HWY 51 and S. Maple Drive West and between South 137th West Ave and South HWY 97/51.

Shirk was named for Ben Shirk, Frisco Railroad official.
