Main Street Broken Arrow, I.T. (OK) Celebration of the town's 3rd Birthday October 16, 1905 Photo courtesy of the Broken Arrow, OK Historical Society
The following information was pasted to the back of the photo: "What appears to be bedlam in the streets of Broken Arrow is actually our citizenry celebrating the third birthday of their town. Everyone turned out on Main street, forming a sea of people, horses and buggies. If you'll look closely, you'll be able to recognize several buildings that are now standing on Main street, even though they have some new tenants. We are able to pick out what is now Sharpe's Dry Goods and the Oklahoma Tire and Supply building. Even on its third birthday, Broken Arrow had all the signs of a prosperous, growing town. The same is true today, as we look back on recent years of rapid growth, and ahead to still greater growth." [the photo has no date but Oklahoma Tire & Supply had moved to 71st Street by 1961] (Broken Arrow celebrated its 100th birthday during 2003 and many of the buildings in this photo are still standing, and are in use, today)
