Smith Bros - Coal Mine
Dawson, Indian Territory - 1898

Submitted by: Sharon Bradley - sbgen@valornet.com

Dividing Line

My husband's relatives were both Rev. Sylvester Morris (by marriage to Harriet Smith), and descended directly from John Nelson Smith, son of Harriet. I already have the information on Rev. Morris, but would like the information on John Smith. He and his brother dug coal pits over at Dawson. I have a photo of them working the pits. It is included in the book a Pictorial History of Tulsa, as is a picture I have of Dave Holbrook and Charlie Holbrook drilling a well in 1904. Dave Holbrook was the brother-in-law of John Nelson Smith and his brother William H. Smith. The Back of the photo reads: Smith Bros. Coal Pit Nora Smith one of little girls on bank Dawson I.T. 1898
